In May of  2012 Dr. J. A. Rob, Jr. received his Doctoral Degree in Social work that same year he also was honored with DERF's Wonderful Man Award on Capitol Hill.  Rob, is founder and chief executive officer of the Positive Black Male Association of Houston, Inc. A native of Montgomery, Alabama where at the early age of seven years old he learned the benefits of mentoring. It was at this tender age that he discovered his first male mentor and the importance of having role models that make a difference. Just as young males today need positive outcomes he found his in the backyard of Mr. William “Kid” Franklin, who created the first African American Boys Club in the city of Montgomery that kids need someone. This later became his drive and enthusiasm for giving back to boys in need who desire more out of life than neighborhood corners and Texas prisons.

Dr. Rob, brings together mentors, teachers, and role models to work with inner city youth age’s six through eighteen. The students come from improvised communities and neighborhoods all around the Houston, Harris, Ft Bend and Brazoria County areas. PBMA unite men from all walks of life with boys that want to enter professions such as fire fighting, law enforcement, education, engineering, business, medicine, and sports just to name a few.

His national, state and local award winning leadership program has been featured on Good Morning America(GMA Live) 2014. PBMA has been a major part of the NEYLS/Davis Educational Resource Foundation Leadership Conference (DERF) in Washington D.C. since 2006-2014.
